CWAAS holds a library of journals, printed books and newsletters dating from the late Nineteenth Century onwards. It covers subject areas including:
The CWAAS Library came into being as a result of the Society's practice of exchanging print publications with other similar societies across the UK. This network of exchange continues today. Donations from supporters including Brian Ashmore (Roman history), WK Calvert (Furness) and Claire Fell (prehistoric and other archaeology) further expanded the holdings.
The University of Cumbria currently stores the CWAAS Library at its Brampton Road campus in Carlisle.
CWAAS members, staff and students at the University of Cumbria, researchers and members of public are invited to consult this library material by appointment, in accordance with the call-up procedure. You will be contacted by e-mail when your items are ready for consultation: please check your e-mail before setting off for the library.
