The Publications Committee oversees the Society's full publications programme. This includes the annual volume of Transactions and the Newsletter (which is published three times each year) both of which are sent to all members through their subscribing to CWAAS, and books in the Extra Series, Record Series, Research Series, Tract Series, and CARR (Cumbria Archaeological Research Reports).

CARR is the newest of the Society's Series, the first publication having appeared in 2009. This was Excavation and Survey at Roman Burgh-by-Sands. It presented excavations by the late Barri Jones and a geographical survey by English Heritage. This Series provides an outlet for material compiled recently or several years ago, material not already published for varying reasons.

The members of the Committee are experienced in at least one of the skills relating to the Committee's work: writing, carrying out research, publishing personal research, and editing and publishing the work of others. Some of the members carry a responsibility for a specific Society publication (such as Transactions, the Newsletter or a Series); others take on responsibilities for editing a particular volume; and others undertake to organise promotional events connected with producing publications. The highest professional standards are maintained in every aspect of the Committee's work, from evaluating and selecting texts for publication, to the refereeing of selected works, then to seeing those works through the press. The Society has long held an enviable reputation for its publishing.
